Natucer Cottage | Spanish Glazed Porcelain Tile
With Cottage, Natucer presents a terracotta look in extruded porcelain. Extrusion, an artisanal ceramic process working with wet clay, is the perfect technology to mimic this natural material as each piece feels handcrafted with slightly cushioned, uneven edges and size variation. In addition, the line has beautiful shading that adds to the handcrafted look including pieces that have linear movement as well as spots and indentations that would occur in a traditional firing cycle in an old kiln. The Stars and Crosses add to the traditional look and allow for some fun designs. Knowing that Cottage is a line people will want to use on patios, we also have the 12x12 available in an R11 finish. Please note that the R11 finish is created using a different glaze, making it slightly more muted than the natural finish. Customers should review actual samples.

Images
Please Note
It’s never advisable to select tile from images alone, especially when viewed on a screen since they can look different on different kinds of screens. Pictures are provided to give an idea of the look and variation. Colors are intended as a guide only and may vary from actual tile. Sizes listed are nominal. Please check samples before making final selection and to get actual dimensions for layout.
Note about square footage of Star and Cross
*The Stars and Crosses are intended to be used together as a unit. Each unit (1 Star and 1 Cross) is around 0.49 square feet. Customers should order 50% of each. Please note that they are sold by the full box and there are 16 pieces per box of the Star and 24 pieces per box of the Cross, so customers will need 3 boxes of the Star for every 2 boxes of the Cross.
Note about Antislip Finish
**With its R11 rating, the Antislip Finish is suitable for many exterior paving applications including patios, pool decks, walkways, terraces, steps, and even some slopes. Of course, final suitability always comes down to the specific circumstances of the project, and proper cleaning and maintenance is required to maintain the slip resistance of any surface. A seamless flow from interior to exterior spaces can be created by using the natural finish inside and the Antislip finish outside.
Usage and Installation Information
Cottage is suitable for residential and light to moderate commercial use. Due to the extruded process that creates this handcrafted look, we recommend using at least a 1/8” grout joint when installing the 12x12. Please note that, as with handmade products, the tiles will be slightly different in size and shape, so you will need to adjust the size of the grout joints, making some a little bigger and some a little smaller, to accommodate these differences. This is especially true when installing the Stars and Crosses, as the different shapes and varying sizes of the pieces present special challenges, and the pieces may even almost touch in places to make sure they align with each other.
Part of the character of this special material is that some edges are more irregular and have more of a cushion than others, especially in the 12x12. When the edges are more cushioned, the spacing should be closer to make the final joint size more uniform. It is important to wash down the grout to reveal the cushion. Because of the cushion, the grout joint will appear wider, even when properly washed down. It takes some skill and time to do a proper layout and work with the spacing and the installer should not use precision spacers. The end result is a beautiful installation that looks like handmade material.
To attain the proper mix of graphics and color, it is important to pull from multiple boxes during installation, rotate pieces, and note the placement of the different images to get the proper final blend.

The Dynamic Coefficient of Friction is a general guide only. Testing may vary with different production runs and with different testing labs. As noted in the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) the coefficient of friction varies considerably due to facts not under the control of entities such as the manufacturers and distributors. These factors include, but are not limited to, contaminants, slope of terrain, drainage conditions, adjacent surfaces, etc. Suitability for any installation can only be determined by a site examination of all conditions that could affect the slip resistance of the tile being installed. Continual cleaning and maintenance must be performed once the tile has been installed.
